When I was younger and my father caught me or my brother laying on the couch he would look us over for a second or two - maybe he was just checking to see if we were still alive - then he could say in his loud voice, "why don't you get up and do something constructive outside?". That remark was usually followed by one of two things. The first and best response would be for us to get up and get outside to find something "constructive" to do. The second, and unacceptable response would be for us to continue laying on the couch as if some sort of rigamortis has set in. This second response would prompt dad to restate his "suggestion", only this time converting it into a command with expected action to follow shortly.
Although there were many times I despised my dad's advice, I have grown to see the wisdom of his advice. I now strive to help my boys find constructive actives to fill their days.
Maybe you can find some inspiration to Get Up and Get Out to experience this wonderful world we live in.
God Bless,
Bryan
